This is a unit based on the social issue topic of bullying. With how prevalent bullying is and has been in our schools, it is so important for students to not only learn about what bullying is, but also work towards creating a school environment that is safe. In this unit, students explore the different types of bullying, and participate in community building activities. They also focus on how to offer hope and support to those who may experience bullying.

These lessons are geared towards students in 6th-8th grade, but may be adapted

for students both younger and older. The essential question that I aim to address in this unit is:

What is bullying, and how can we deal with it as a classroom community in a positive, healthy way?

Each lesson also addresses more specific essential questions. While these lessons may work best in the order presented, they can also be used individually as needed. Here are the lessons that are included in this unit:

                    Lesson #1: "What is Bullying?"
Lesson #2: "A Penny For Your Thoughts"
Lesson #3: "Welcome to My Life/Keep Holding On: Music and Bullying"
Lesson #4: "It Gets Better: Videos of Hope"
Lesson #5: "Anti-Bullying Plan of Action"

*Note: Lesson #4 and Lesson #5 can be found under the "more" tab on the menu, along with a list of some resources.
